Project Description

On August 30, 2016, in the frameworks of the agreement between the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Georgian National Museum, the educational exposition was opened in the Forestry Agency of Adjara.

Educational Exposition in the Forestry Agency of Adjara

The exposition showcases the floristic region of Adjara, which is the richest in the Caucasus ecoregion and is famous for its biological diversity and the abundance of terrestrial ecosystems. The central part of the exposition is dedicated to the region of Adjara, as the biodiversity hotspot. The material showcased on the expositional stands will introduce visitors to the unique forest ecosystems of Adjara, vertical zoning of vegetation, photos of endemic timber wild species and species protected by the "red list", as well as the history, goals, objectives and territorial administrations of Forestry Agency of Adjara.

The most interesting part of the exposition is the window of the endemic and endangered species herbarium and the dendrite collections of forest plants.

In the exhibition hall is presented the information about the geography, terrain, major landscapes, geological structure, climate and hydrological networks of Adjara region. Also, the exposition will showcase the spread of pests, fungal pathogens and soil types of Adjara's forests.

The visitors will have the possibility to view the light boxes of the maps of Caucasus ecoregion, the forests of Georgia and Adjara.

The exposition also includes the interactive monitor (touch screen) which allows visitors to get information about the natural monuments of Adjara. It contains natural monuments distribution map, photos and information about each of them.

On the visitors resting bench are presented the informational boards about the Red book, biodiversity, IUCN (International Union of Conservation of Nature), hot spots, ecoregions and the endemic species.
