The Ashik Kamandar House Museum
Ashik Kamandar Efendiev was a brilliant master of modern Ashugh art, a well-known singer in Georgia and the Caucasus region, an unparalleled performer and teacher.
The famous Ashugh House-Museum presents an exposition of his life and creative activity. The house-museum consists of three museum spaces. In the first hall, visitors will learn about the history of Ashugh art, get rich information about the role and importance of Ashugh art, the peaceful coexistence and cultural relations of people of different ethnicities and mentalities. Also, for the influence of Ashugh art for the development of oriental, urban folklore in Georgia. The other two halls of the house-museum present Ashugh Kamandari's personal belongings, tools, photos of his life and work, audio-video documentaries, awards, manuscripts and other archival material.
Ashik Kamandar House-Museum was established in his native village Kafanakhchi in 2013 by the decision of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia. The house-museum building arrangement and rehabilitation project was implemented with the financial support of the Tbilisi Coordination Office of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA). Rehabilitation was carried out on the house and door of Ashugh Kamandar Efendiev. The second floor of the same house was arranged for the exhibition. The exhibition halls were fully equipped and a new exposition was organized. The exhibition exhibits were restored, the museum collections were organized and systematically registered.
The content and design concept of the exhibition of Ashugh Kamandar Efendiev House-Museum was prepared by the specialists of the Georgian National Museum.
Another modern museum, cultural-educational space has been added to the Kvemo Kartli region in the form of the renovated Ashik Kamandar House-Museum.
