Vano Sarajishvili (1 May, 1879, Signagi - 11 November, 1924, Tbilisi) is a Georgian musician, one of the founders of Georgian professional vocal art.

The most beloved singer of the Georgian people, "Georgian Nightingale" has become a legend in his lifetime. Such popularity was bestowed on her by her rare beauty voice, exquisite vocal craftsmanship, and vivid stage talent. Lyrical dramatic tenor, People's Artist of Georgia. From 1887 he studied at the Tbilisi Noble Gymnasium, where he sang in the student choir (1888-1895). In 1898 he entered the Tbilisi Music School (cello class). 1898-1900. He was a singer of the Georgian folk choir - soloist (leader S. Kavsadze). From 1903 he studied singing in St. Petersburg. With Priashnikov, then a. With Panaeva-Kartseva. Sarajishvili made his debut in 1907 in Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata". At the same time in Italy under the leadership of Castaneo mastered the art of Belcanto (1906-1908). He has given concerts in various Italian opera houses.

After returning to St. Petersburg, the singer continued to work in the Italian troupe. He lived in Tbilisi since 1908. Performed on the stage of Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater.

1910-1920. It is the heyday of Vano Sarajishvili's creations. On May 28, 1913, he performed fragments from Zakaria Paliashvili's newly created opera "Absalom and Ether" (Absalom's party). 1916-1917 - Lived in Baku, where he was active in concert. After returning to Tbilisi, Sarajishvili participated in the staging of Zakaria Paliashvili's operas, performing the parts of Abesalom ("Abesalom and Ether") and Malkhaz ("Daisy"). It is known that Malkhaz's aria "Tavo Chemo" was included in the opera by Zakaria Paliashvili at the request of Vano Sarajishvili.

Sarajishvili's repertoire is diverse, he performed both lyrical and dramatic parties with equal success: Shota (Dimitri Arakishvili's "Tale on Shota Rustaveli"), Kote (V. Dolidze "Keto and Kote"), Radames (Verdi "Aida"), Khose (Bize) Carmen "), Faust (Huno" Faust "), Duke, (Verdi" Rigoletto ") Alfred, (Verdi" Traviata "), Nadir (Bizet" Pearl Seeker "), Loengrin (Wagner" Loengrin "), Lensky, (Tchaikovsky "Eugene Onegin"), Germany (Tchaikovsky "Peak Woman"), Synodal (Rubinstein "Demon") and others. Vano Sarajishvili is buried in the garden of the Tbilisi Opera House. His name was given to one of the streets of Tbilisi, st. Vanoba is held annually in Sighnaghi in May.
